Digital twinning

Most of the AI-in-the-workplace discussion is about replacing the average worker. But what about executives?

Office work often bogs down because not enough people have access to executive decision-makers.

As the Wall Street Journal reports, one solution is for business leaders to create “digital twins” — AI versions of themselves trained on their speeches, interviews, emails, and presentations. From there, the executive bot can answer emails and make decisions.

That’s a very different version of what “AI replacing jobs” could look like.

Once again, I've used my camera-phone to take a picture in the bathroom, a practice Marnie finds to be "creepy." Next to the bathroom door at the Newseum is a special paper towel dispenser designed to provide a germ-free exit. The sign reads: "As you exit, protect yourself. Use a tissue to open the door." Now, I'm one of the people they had in mind when they installed this thing. After all, I have long thought that the hand-washing process in public bathrooms is problematic . Still, this contraption would be unnecessary if people washed their hands before leaving the bathroom. In acknowledging that some people don't wash their hands, this towel dispenser is providing cover for those people.

The idea that voters want Americans to find common ground is a lie

Cut a hole in the box

On Dec. 16, SNL aired a funny-but-juvenile skit called "Dick In A Box" staring Justin Timberlake and SNL cast member Andy Samberg. The problem, of course, is that no one watches SNL anymore. But thanks to YouTube, the skit has been viewed over 11 million times. A young woman from Philadelphia who calls herself "Bunny" has tried to one-up the Justin Timberlake performance with her own box-related ditty titled "My Box In A Box." Bunny told me that Timberlake feels threatened by her version. She also said Donovan McNabb should remain the Eagles starting quarterback, no matter how well Jeff Garcia does.
